Testimony of Yves le Blevec about Squid

  • Yves Blevec skipper of the actual Ultimate Team from the Transat Jacques Vabre 2015

"I am very satisfied after the passage of Team Great Circle on board . They updated SQUID which works as well as before, actually no...: which works even better than before because they took all the time I needed to explain to me all the possibilities of the software and clear up at last some questions I had. In any case using Squid on board a racing boat is really awesome!

It allows a lot of weather data to overlay simultaneously over a worldwide map within a single software. A rather easy user interface to retrieve, visualize and animate forecasts and observations.

This tool does a lot of things. I had discovered it last year when I was Race Director for the "Mini-en-Mai" and the "Armen Race", Squid helped me quiet a lot to avoid navigators severe weather conditions and follow the evolution of different weather paterns all along the fleet extension.

In one word: it is really a beautiful tool and I use it regulary."

(Born on 05/07/1965) Yves le Blévec is an impassioned autodidact. Originally from Paris region he built up an experience which through temerity provides him a nice fame in the ocean racing universe, without separating the usual humility of any sailor whose love of the sea remains the main motor.

Thus he won successfully his first ocean racing in 2001 in the Mini class. In 2002 then in 2005 he won the Jules Verne Trophy on his Maxi-Catamaran. It is with a beautiful prize list with its credit that he enters the class of Multi50 on his Actual trimaran since 2009.
